Basic Faux Finishes & Preps
A "faux product" oriented class
DACN
Instructor Dave Larson
|
"We're covering the basic principals
of
faux finishing products & how
to
integrate them in faux finishing,
not just selling you on one brand
name!
|
"Faux finishing
products & glazes" have become a major trend in the industry. Developed
only 15 years ago, "faux finishing" glazes are now available over the
counter, on the internet, and some are offered only through "proprietary"
classes (you have to pay for and take the class to learn and buy the
product). Regardless of the brand or name (Behr, Sherwin-Williams, Ralph
Lauren, etc), they all have one thing in common: an acrylic or latex base
with extenders added to stay "wetter" or "open" longer.
In this class
you will learn the fundamentals of working with any "faux glazing product",
be it over the shelf or proprietary products, all major brand names
will be discussed. Beyond learning the fundamentals of mixing, application,
and manipulation of faux finishing glazes, you will paint the most
commonly requested and fundamental faux finishes (images at right).
Included
is our "Surface Prep" instruction so you know if, when and how to basecoat
properly with the correct paint and sheen, as well as how to prepare
any surface for painting.
Cost:
this is the first day of the "Faux Product Faux Finishing & Business",
total is $1400
